My areas of expertise are:
Risk Communication and Management
I am available for custom research or expert advisory roles in freelance, one-off or longer-term projects and media commentary.
My services are for ports, travel agencies, cruise lines, tour operators and tourism businesses who want to better understand their consumers and increase revenue or create a better customer experience.
I offer unique insight with 10 years of working onboard for 2 major cruise lines, 3 years of retail travel experience for an award winning national travel agency in Canada and 6 years of research on the global cruise sector and tourism industry, specializing in the UK and Australian markets. I am passionate about the cruise sector and was a top Onboard Sales Manager for Princess Cruises, and achieved annual personal sales of $4 million USD and went on to be recognized with the award for "Top Monthly Sales for a New Agent" for Expedia Cruiseshipcenters. I'm passionate about the cruise sector and have incredible insight from my research into understanding not only why people cruise, but also why others reject cruising.

I won the 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) competition in 2018 for the University of Brighton where I delivered my entire PhD in 3 minutes in an engaging and informative way that anyone could understand. I also won Best Doctoral Oral Presentation in 2017 (University of Brighton). I have given presentations at many international conferences and have served as lead convenor at two prestigious conferences for risk and cruise research, showing my attention to cutting edge research, detail and organisational abilities.
I have developed and presented guest lectures to hospitality and cruise management undergraduate and postgraduate classes in Canada and the UK, focusing on the cruise product, tourism marketing, market innovations and consumer trends. More recently I have shared lectures on recovering from reputational damage and the cruise industry's response to COVID-19.
